Don’t call this a career change- it is a pivot!

Thank you for stopping by to learn about my work and OHMYGAWD Ink!

What does a love of connecting with people and a flair for drawing bubble letters have in common? Both skills have led me to a pivot in my career! Graphic Facilitation and Recording incorporates my strengths professionally: lead collaboration and strategy sessions with clients and key stakeholders, use my expert listening skills, and create exciting visuals that add to the conversation and experience!

I have spent the last 2 decades working in Architecture and Design. As a designer I have been so fortunate to help facilitate workplace strategy sessions with government agencies, large corporations, and universities. Gaining insights into people’s thought process and motivations has been fascinating! Strategy sessions can leave you both invigorated and exhausted! Previously, the biggest disappointment after Workplace Strategy sessions has been the disconnect after the meeting ends. So many good ideas are lost between the wall of post-it notes and the boilerplate final report.

How can we capture that insight and enthusiasm? Through Graphic Recording and Facilitation!

If this profession seems unfamiliar to you- that is okay! I admit that I didn’t know what many of these terms meant when I first read them- is “sketch noting” really a thing? And if so, can we please convince my teachers that my notebooks filled with doodles alongside my notes were actually a good thing? As a visual learner I constantly sought ways to have my brain connect to names, dates, and anything else that we were supposed to retain. As I began embracing tools, such as Bullet Journaling and Sketch Noting, I realized that my clients could benefit from this type of engagement too. It is easier to retain the information if it seems dynamic, even if you are not artistic. I approach client projects the same way, knowing that increased engagement leads to better final projects or products.

Studies show that people remember: 10% of what they hear, 20% of what they read and 80% of what they see.

Together let's figure out how to engage your team, students, or clients and add visual excitement into your next meeting or project!

I can’t wait to work together! Jaci Pollock
